What is Zapptitude?
Zapptitude is a platform to build tools for assessing users’ cognitive skills while they play educational apps and games on their mobile devices.
What is Zapp ID or ZID?
An app using Zapptitude saves some activity crumbs while the user interacts with the app. This information is then provided to the app developer to better understand how users interact with the app, and this can lead to improvement of the app aimed at a smoother user experience.
This information can also be compiled into valuable reports for the users, assuming that there is a way to link the users to their logged activity crumbs. This is the purpose of the Zapp ID. The Zapp ID can be any alias name chosen by the users. It does not need to contain a real name. It is case sensitive and should be complex enough to reduce the chances that another user picks the same alias.
At Zapptitude the privacy of our users is paramount. Zapptitude does not collect any personally identifiable information (pii). As an added security measure, only an encrypted form of the Zapp ID is ever stored with the activity crumbs. So, even if a user provides personally identifiable data in the Zapp ID, the activity crumbs can never, in any case, be linked back to the user.
If the user wishes not to link their activity crumbs to any alias, they can proceed as anonymous. The activity crumbs of an anonymous user are still saved for the purpose of helping the app developer. But, there will be no way to get a user report from these anonymous activity crumbs.
What information is collected from Children?
Complying with COPPA, we do NOT collect any personally identifiable information from children such as name, postal address, email address, telephone, etc. We only collect as much information as is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in an activity within the App. Even the anonymous ID they create is stored in it’s encrypted form and it’s totally voluntary.
Automatic information collection: When you download, access and use any App that is Zappified (Apps instrumented with Zapptitude), it may use technology to automatically collect certain details. When you access and use a Zappified App (the App), we may automatically collect certain details of your access to and use of the App including traffic data, logs and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on or through the App. The technologies we use for automatic information collection may include mobile cookies.
The usage information we collect helps us to improve the App and to deliver a better and more personalized experience by enabling us to 1) Estimate the audience size and usage pattern. 2) Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize the App according to your individual interests. 3) Recognize you when you use the App.
We do not share, sell, rent or transfer any individual information other than as described next. We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual or device, without restriction. In addition, we may disclose non personal information to third parties we use to support the internal operations of the App and who are bound by contractual or other obligations to use the information only for such purpose and to keep the information confidential. We might also disclose information if we are required to do so by law or legal process to comply with any court order or government regulatory request. Information will be disclosed if we believe it is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property or safety of Zapptitude Inc, our customers or others including to protect the safety of a child or protect the safety and security of the App, or enable us to take precautions against liability and to law enforcement agencies for an investigation related to public safety.
